How close to the house?
Each planning overlay lets you clear vegetation close to a building without that overlay's permit, out to a set distance. Your block can sit under more than one overlay, and other rules can still apply, so check your property report before anything is cut.
- 2 m
- Vegetation within 2 m of a building. The two township overlays, SLO22 and SLO23, which cover parts of Lilydale, Mooroolbark, Chirnside Park, Coldstream, Yarra Glen, Healesville, Seville, Wandin North, Woori Yallock, Yarra Junction and Warburton.
- 4 m
- Vegetation within 4 m of a building. The valley's farmland and bush under SLO6, the open river flats under SLO2 (Yering, Tarrawarra, Launching Place), and the habitat overlay ESO1.
- 10 m
- Any vegetation, trees included, within 10 m of a home built or approved before 10 September 2009. Anywhere in a Bushfire Prone Area, under the state's 10/30 rule.
